The Pond Closing Downtown Location on January 31, 2021

Happy New Year!

The time has come (finally) to write this newsletter about when The Pond will be moving from downtown Rehoboth Beach to the Shops At Sea Coast on Coastal Highway (i.e. the former TGI Fridays spot).  So… our last day at the current location will be Sunday, January 31st.  If we were living in “normal times”, you know we would be having a huge closing party with live music all day.  But, alas, it is Covid times.  As a result, rather than having a blow-out party, we will have a properly social-distanced closing weekend.  We strongly encourage you to make reservations by emailing Davey at davey@thepondrehoboth.com.  

Our entertainment for this final weekend will be three bands that have played at The Pond for what seems like forever.  Indeed, it has been so long that none of us really can recall when they actually first played at the old Frogg Pond.  As of this writing, all bands will begin at 6:30PM as we have to be closed no later than 10PM.  If something changes with the restrictions, we certainly will let everyone know!  Here are the final three bands, all locally based, that will perform at our downtown location.

On Friday, January 29th we welcome back reggae-rock band Freshly Squeezed.
On Saturday, January 30th, we have Electric Velvet which has been rockin’ the mid-Atlantic (and The Pond) since the late 90’s.
And finally, on Sunday, January 31st, there is only one band that could close for us, and that is Lower Case Blues.  As everyone knows, LCB has owned Sunday nights at The Pond.  

Many have been asking when will be opening at the new location?  We are hoping that we will be ready to have a number of safe & socially distanced “soft openings” in late February and early March.  Everyone on our email list will be invited to at least one of these soft openings as these special nights will replace a grand opening as we anticipate that we will continue to be under Covid restrictions.  We promise everyone that when restrictions are lifted, there will be a HUGE GRAND OPENING!  Our target official open date is Friday, March 5th with Lower Case Blues performing.

We also have entertainment booked for the month of January with weekend bands including Human Connection, DMT, 3.0.2 Band, Bad Avenue Band, 2nd Time Around, Mathew Street Band, and a couple of Saturday gigs with Lower Case Blues.
